The Office of Deputy PM for Economic Affairs of Taliban has announced that the United Arab Emirates dispatched some 38.5 tonnes of supplies including food, clothing and medicine to Afghanistan.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs on Friday said on Twitter the received aid will be distributed to the affected families through a transparent process.
It was also stated that aid supplies will be handed over to the relevant ministries and organizations to facilitate the distribution process among needy families.
According to a statement released by the United Arab Emirates government, the life-saving aid is aimed at distributing to thousands of families affected by the recent earthquakes in northeastern Badakhshan province, particularly to women, children and elderly people.
Furthermore, it is also highlighted that the UEA government’s humanitarian aid from 2021-2022 to Afghanistan has been delivered through an air corridor. So far, some 28 flights carrying a total of 623 tonnes of medical supplies and food have been dispatched to the country through this corridor.
The UAE government has also claimed that nearly 1.1 million people including 850,000 women and children from 2021-2022 have benefited from the country’s humanitarian aid.
Previously, the UAE built a hospital with an area of one thousand square meters for the people affected by the earthquakes last year in the southeastern part of Afghanistan.
This comes as at least 13 people have died and 100 more sustained injuries due to the recent natural disasters including flash floods and earthquakes in Badakhshan, Takhar, Panjshir, and Kunar provinces.
Badakhshan and Takhar are the two earthquake-prone provinces of Afghanistan, which experience earthquakes and landslides frequently, severely affecting ordinary people’s lives.
