Senior U.S. and Pakistani officials met in Islamabad on Monday to hold delegation level talks on Afghan peace process, it has been reported.
US Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells arrived in Islamabad on Monday and met the interagency delegation led by Additional Secretary Americas Aftab Khokhar, Dawn News reported citing a report published by state-run radio service Radio Pakistan.
The report further added that the two sides are discussing bilateral relations and the Afghan reconciliation process today.
The latest meeting between top U.S. and Pakistani official takes place amid ongoing efforts to find a political settlement to the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.
Ambassador Khalilzad had met with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani ahead of his trip to Pakistan with ARG Presidential Palace saying the U.S. envoy briefed President Ghani regarding his future trips and programs regarding Afghan peace process.
