A U.S. airstrike targeted a Taliban gathering in south-eastern Ghazni province killing or wounding several militants.

The Provincial Governor’s Office said in a statement that the U.S. forces conducted the airstrike at around 2pm local time on Wednesday.

The statement further added that the airstrike targeted a Taliban gathering in Robat area of Deh Yak district.

Furthermore, the Provincial Government said the airstrike killed 7 Taliban militants and wounded 5 others.

However, the military sources said Friday that the airstrikes killed 13 Taliban militants.

Meanwhile, the Governor’s Office said a clash broke out between security forces and Taliban militants on Highway#1 which left 4 militants dead and 5 others wounded.

A separate clash also broke out between the security forces and Taliban militants in Atak area of Aab Band district on Wednesday night. The clash left 6 militants dead while a motorcycle was destroyed.

The Taliban group has not commented regarding the airstrikes so far.
