A two-year-old child is trapped after falling into a water well in Helmand province of southern Afghanistan, said Taliban government authorities.

According to Hafiz Rashid Helmandi, the Taliban’s head of the Information and Culture Department in the province of Helmand, the two-year-old victim tumbled into a water well that was 30 meters deep.

According to a Taliban official, the event occurred on Tuesday, August 9th, and the child who fell into the bore well is still alive.

A technical team has been dispatched to the site to save the child, according to the Taliban’s head of information and culture in the province of Helmand.

The race is on to save a two-year-old toddler who has been stuck inside the well.

Earlier, three kids fell into a well in the Garmsir district of Helmand province in southern Afghanistan a month ago; two of them drowned while the third was saved.

Three children—two boys and one girl—fell into the well. The female child was saved by the villagers’ efforts.

Similar instances have previously taken place in other provinces, notably the south of the country, and most of these incidents have resulted in the death of children.

The Taliban Interior Ministry ordered that wells without a cover be covered after an increase in incidents of people falling into wells.
