Kunar-khas-kunar-common-sight-3816Two member of a Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) splinter group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar have been arrested by security forces in eastern Kunar province.

Brigadier General Abdul Habib Sayedkhil, police chief of Kunar province says that the two militants had been working for TTP but due to rifts within the group they had joined Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.

Brig. General Sayedkhili further said that security forces detained them from the jurisdiction of Khas Kunar District yesterday.

Located in the southern part of Kunar province, Khas Kunar District shares a several-kilometer-long border with Pakistan.

Insurgents occasionally use this border to reach to Kunar province for destructive activities.
