After 30 Million users joined ‘Threads’ a new text-based social media network by Meta, Twitter’s owner threatened to take legal action against the company.

Elon Musk has accused Meta of poaching Twitter employees for what it calls a “copycat” app, according to a cease-and-desist letter obtained by media site Semafor.

Previously, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had described “Meta Threads” as an immediate rival of Twitter, however, Elon Musk has openly accused the new app of copying Twitter.

Elon Musk tweeted that competition is good but Zuckerberg is currently forging. Musk further added Twitter will appear triumphant in this competition.

Meanwhile, Alex Spiro, a lawyer for Twitter, accused Zuckerberg of engaging in systematic, willful and unlawful exploitation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property rights, reported CNN.

Twitter claims that Meta hired at least dozens of former employees of the company last year, some of whom have access to Twitter’s trade secrets and other highly confidential information. Twitter accused former employees of inappropriately carrying the company’s documents or electronic devices with them.

“Meta intentionally hired these employees to build threads by using Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property, and speed up the development process of a new text-based social media network,” that statement added.

Responding to the latest accusations, Zuckerberg wrote on Instagram that “Meta Threads” is an open and friendly public space for conversation.

“Our vision is to take the best parts of Instagram and create a new experience for text, ideas, and discussing what’s on your mind. I think the world needs this kind of friendly community,” Meta CEO said.
