Afghanistan railway networkA section of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway construction which falls within the Turkmen soil has been completed, it has been reported.

According to a statement released by the government of Turkmenistan, the construction of the railway has been completed up to the border of Afghanistan.

The statement further added that the length of the Atamyrat-Imamnazar-Akina section is 88 kilometers.

Two railway bridges are under construction along the railway line, the statement, said adding that the work on constructing two railway stations will start there.

The construction of the railway network once completed is expected to act as n important link in international transportations between the Asian countries, the statement added.

Construction of two railway sections, including 85-kilometer long Atamyrat-Imamnazar on Turkmenistan’s territory and 38-kilometer long section running from Imamnazar to Andkhoy settlement in Afghanistan, has been envisaged at the initial stage.

On the Afghan territory, the construction work on a 3-kilometer long railway line running from Imamnazar to Akina settlement has also been planned.

The statement said “Implementation of a number of joint infrastructure projects in Afghanistan will give a strong impetus to the further development of Afghanistan’s economy, will allow to resolve the important social issues and ensure the population’s employment.”
