Local officials in the western province have announced that a convoy carrying 620 tons of humanitarian aid from Turkey for flood victims has arrived in Herat, Afghanistan.

The Department of Economy in Herat province stated in a message on Wednesday, June 12, that these aids were delivered to the province via railway.

According to officials of this department, Turkey’s humanitarian aid includes 620 tons of food and non-food items, such as flour, tents, blankets, detergents, and other necessary supplies for the recent flood victims in the country.

Previously, Turkey had also reported sending humanitarian aid to provide services for flood victims and migrants expelled from neighboring countries.

It is worth mentioning that the recent floods in several provinces of the country have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people and significant financial losses.

In addition, the United Nations and aid organizations in Afghanistan have consistently warned about the increasing needs of the people following the expulsion of Afghan migrants and recent floods in the country and have called for more aid.

The dire situation in Afghanistan has been exacerbated by the Taliban’s restrictions on women working with domestic and international aid agencies, limiting the ability to provide essential services.

This has significantly impacted the delivery of humanitarian assistance and the overall aid response in the country.

Moreover, the increase in child labor due to economic hardships has added another layer of crisis. Children are being forced into labor to support their families, which not only affects their health and education but also perpetuates the cycle of poverty and deprivation in the country.
