A senior Pakistani Taliban leader was sacked over alleged charges of conspiracy against the Afghan Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.
According to local media agencies, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Mohmand Agency chief Umar Khalid Khorasani was ousted by group’s chief Mullah Fazlullah.
No further details were given regarding the alleged conspiracy by Khurasani against Mullah Omar.
Khurasani was also charged for having links to shadow militant organizations – Junad-i-Hafza, Ihrarul Hind and now the splinter group Jamatul Ihrar which were found by him.
Khurasani’s group had announced they would no longer recognise or obey Mullah Fazlullah as their Emir, Pakistan Dawn News reported.
The group had also claimed the support of other like minded commanders from FATA and Malakand division.
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan is now effectively divided into two factions under the leadership of Mullah Fazalullah and Umar Khalid Khorasani.
Fazlullah was elected last November following the killing of ex-chief Hakimullah Mehsud in a US drone strike.
