Responding to a question from Fox News journalist Maria Bartiromo, Trump said he believes the conflict is “very close” to ending, although the full interview has not yet been publicly released.
Trump also defended the decision to launch military action, stating that intervention was necessary and claiming that without it, Iran could have already developed nuclear weapons capabilities.
The conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran has been paused following a two-week ceasefire after six weeks of intense fighting.
Following the ceasefire, Washington and its allies held talks in Islamabad aimed at ending the conflict, though the initial round concluded without a formal agreement.
Trump told the New York Post that negotiations could resume within days in Pakistan, suggesting renewed diplomatic efforts are underway despite earlier setbacks.
So far, Iranian officials have not publicly responded to Trump’s remarks about the war nearing its end or the possibility of renewed negotiations, maintaining a cautious stance.
