The Interior Ministry of Afghanistan hailed the courage of a traffic police officer who arrested a suspected kidnapper in capital Kabul.
The suspected kidnapper was arrested in Kot-e-Sangi area of Kabul city on Friday before he manage to abduct a taxi driver, interior ministry said in a statement.
The statement further added that interior minister Mohammad Omar Daudzai met with the traffic police officer in his office on Saturday and hailed his courage for arresting the kidnapper.
Interior minister Daudzai also called the traffic police officer a responsible and brave officer, interior ministry said in its statement.
This comes as another veteran traffic police officer ‘Saboor’ was deemed as the most honest man in Afghanistan.
The 52-year-old traffic police officer was recognized as most honest man for his incorruptibility and theatrics.
Saboor served as traffic police officer for the past 24 years, where he received commendations from Taliban ministers and former presidents.
A short documentary was also produced about Saboor last year, which was funded by United Nations, in an attempt to boost public confidence in the Afghan police.
