Traffic accident hurts a dozen in Herat, Dec. 21, 2020.

HERAT, Afghanistan – At least 12 people are wounded, including women and children, in a car accident in Herat province Monday, local authorities confirmed.

Mohammad Faiq Sherzai, spokesman for the local hospital, said the incident took place on one of Herat main highways that leads to Pashtoon Zarghood district.

At least ten of the passengers were landed in Herat hospital soon after the incident, while two other are hospitalized in local facilities.

According to Sherzai, all 12 passengers on board are in good condition and are being treated under direct supervision of health officials.

Traffic accidents in the area are somewhat common, where hundreds of people across the country are being affected every year due to lack of standard roads and poor infrastructure facilities.
