The top U.S. Commander in Afghanistan Gen. Scott Miller visited Helmand province.
He participated in a security meeting together with a number of senior Afghan defense and security officials.
Speaking during a gathering in Governor’s Palace, Gen. Miller reaffirmed the NATO-led Resolute Support mission’s support in the fight against the insurgent groups.
He also hailed the Afghan leaders for their achievements against Taliban insurgents.
Gen. Miller said “I am very focused on protecting the security forces and civilians. I want to say thank you to the leaders of Helmand. I know the difficulties but I know what you have achieved and I want to congratulate you for that. And the Taliban know what you have achieved.”
He also added that the “Resolute Support is firmly in support of what you do.”
Deputy Defense Minister LTG Yasin Zia, Helmand Provincial Governor Brig. Gen. Mohammad Yasin Khan, Helmand Provincial Chief of Police Isahmudin Helmandi and 215th Corps Commander Brig. Gen. Abdul Hadi Tharin also participated in the meeting.
