A top leader of the Taliban group has been killed during the operation of the Afghan intelligence operatives in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the operation was conducted late on Wednesday night in the vicinity of Surkh Rod district.

The statement further added that a local commander of the Taliban and another senior leader who was in charge of the detective operations of the group were among those killed.

Another Taliban insurgent was also wounded during the operation, the provincial government added in its statement.

The Afghan intelligence operatives also confiscated and destroyed a vehicle, four motorcycles, and some weapons along with ammunition.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

In the meantime, the local officials are saying that the intelligence operatives have also arrested two suspects during the operation.

On the other hand, the Afghan intelligence operatives conducted a similar operation in Bati Kot distict during which a Taliban leader in charge of the financial affairs of the group was killed.
