Immigration News

More than 10,000 Afghan students on Monday following a demonstration protested against the detention of 10 Afghan students by Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) in eastern Nangahar province of Afghanistan.

The protesters blocked the main highway between Kabul and Jalalabad city preventing the vehicles movement between the two key provinces.

Nangahar province located in eastern Afghanistan is considered to be a semi-volatile region where militants are frequently carrying out insurgency activities in a number of its districts.

The 10 detained Afghan students have been arrested by Afghan intelligence and are currently being kept in Kabul’s Pul-e-Charkhi prison, Bagram prison and Afghan intelligence detention cells.

The students have been accused of having links with the militants groups.

Afghan security officials yet to comment regarding the demonstration and detention of the Afghan students.
