Afghan unity governmentNegotiations between electoral camps of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai once again failed to conclude the controversial electoral process.

Representatives of the two camps met on Thursday to reach an agreement on the formation of a national unity government in the presence of US and UN officials.

According to representatives of Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, Thursday’s talks failed due to demands by their rival team which are in contradition of the constitution of Afghanistan.

Dr. Abdullah’s camp has said Thursday’s negotiation focused on a new plan regarding the formation of a national unity government.

Fazal-ur-Rehman Orya, a member of Dr. Abdullah’s camp has said the two leaders will hold talks once an agreement is reached on the new plan for the unity government.

He did not disclose further information regarding the new plan for the unity government.

The electoral process was taken towards a deadlock earlier this week after Dr. Abdullah announced that his team will not accept the outcome of the election.

Abdullah said the political process of the election has entered a deadlock following the final phase of talks between him and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
