IEC spokesman, Noor Mohammad Noor, said the leadership of election commission met with President Hamid Karzai and his vice presidents to discuss the return of Dr. Abdullah to election process.
Noor further added that political steps have also been taken in this regard by the leadership of election commission.
This comes as Abdullah accused the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) for not being impartial in election.
Abdullah announced Sunday that his team will not accept the decisions of the two electoral bodies after this which prompted concerns that his decision to halt ties with electoral bodies will possibly taken the country towards a crisis.
He demanded to organize a third round election in three eastern provinces; however, election commission officials have said that a third round is against the law.
In the meantime, the election commission said the preliminary vote results will be announced on 2nd July despite political pressures.
Noor said the election commission is expecting that issue is resolved as soon as possible and Dr. Abdullah return back to election process along with his team.
He also added that the election commission is prepared to answer the demands of Dr. Abdullah but he insisted that such demands should have a legal basis.
