
A missile struck a training facility of the suicide bombers in southern Helmand province leaving at least 18 Taliban militants dead, the Ministry of Defense said Thursday.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense, the missile was launched for Shorab base which impacted the training facility in Sangin district.
“Last night, in coordination with NDS a missile rocket was fired from Shorab Base on a training center of suicide attackers in Sarban Qala, Sangin of Helmand. As a result, 18 Taliban terrorists were killed and 7 others were wounded,” the statement added.
Helmand is among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan. Taliban militants are active in some of the restive districts of the province and often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.
