Taliban’s negotiating team member meets Karzai, Abdullah in Kabul

Anas Haqqani, a member of the Taliban negotiating team in Doha, and Brother Sarajudind Haqqani, one of the three deputies of Afghanistan Islamic Emirate met with former President Hamid Karzai and head of High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul on Wednesday, August 18.

The meeting was also attended by the speaker of the upper house of representatives Fazal Haid Muslimyar and chief of staff of then-president Hamid Karzai Karim Khuram.

Media were not invited to cover the meeting and there are yet to be given full details about the contents of the visit.

Yesterday evening, the head of the Taliban’s political office Mullah Abdulghani Baradar and three other members of negotiating team landed in Kandahar province and are due to come to Kabul.

As Kabul is yet to be led by any party, the Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid said that negotiations are ongoing on shaping the upcoming government in Afghanistan.

Mujahid though did not disclose details about the nature of government, reiterated that the government will be all-inclusive and Islamic.
