Provincial Chief of Police for Kandahar, Major General Tadin Khan confirmed that during a clash with the Taliban in Maiwand district of Kandahar, there were four women and three children wounded.

“There was a clash between #ANDSF and the #Taliban in Maiwand, #Kandahar. The Taliban wounded 7 residents, all women and children, from an indirect fire round. They speak of peace but their action harmed our women and children,” said MG Tadin’s social media.

Initial reports came from the District Chief of Police of Maiwand, Haji Lala who said the Taliban fired an indirect mortar round, aiming for the security forces and instead hit a local resident’s house which inflicted the injuries to the women and children.

The Taliban have mentioned the clashes on social media, but failed to mention that civilians were injured in the clash. The Taliban often target security forces but unfortunately residents are often victims of these attacks.
