Taliban to hold grand gathering on new government in Kabul

It has been seven days since the Taliban have taken control over Kabul and the country left in a sheer political vacuum but negotiations over forging the upcoming government are going on in Kabul.

A grand gathering is purportedly planned to be held in Kabul by the Taliban leadership and Kabul-based officials and politicians.

All the members and the head of the Taliban’s political office based in Doha are currently in Kabul and are busy negotiating on the structure of upcoming governmental with different parties.

After the brother of former Afghan president Ashraf Ghani, Hashmat Ghani Ahamdzai pledged allegiance with the Taliban on Saturday, August 21, former governor of Nangarhar province and one of the prominent politicians of Afghanistan Gul Agha Sherzai also swore allegiance with Afghanistan Islamic Emirate.

The Taliban members have appreciated his efforts in reconstruction during his tenure as minister of urban development and land during the presidency of Hamid Karzai.

Sherzai had also congratulated the victory of the Taliban a day after they took over Kabul.

Members of the Taliban have also met with parliament member, Haji Zahir Qadir, and both sides have discussed the structure of the upcoming all-inclusive government.

As part of efforts for shaping the cabinet, the Taliban appointed chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board and head of water and power on Sunday.
