Taliban suffer heavy casualties in Afghan forces operations

Afghan special forces policeAt least 96 Taliban militants were killed or injured during military operations by Afghan national security forces in the past 24 hours.

Interior ministry following a statement said Sunday that the operations were jointly conducted by Afghan National Police (ANP), Afghan National Army (ANA) and Afghan Intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives.

The statement further added that the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Zabul, Logar, Helmand, Badakhshn, Farah and Uruzgan provinces.

At least 96 Taliban militants were killed, 56 militants were injured and 12 others including Taliban leaders Mullah Khudai Rahim, Mullah Abdul Basir and Ajmal were arrested during the operations, the statement by interior ministry added.

Afghan security forces also confiscated various types of light and heavy weapons along with explosives and 442 improvised explosive device (IED) and 220 kg f hashish during the operations.

Interior ministry did not disclose further information regarding the casualties of the Afghan security forces during the military operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
