The Taliban militants suffered heavy casualties after their third attack was repulsed on Dawlatabad district in northern Faryab province.
The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said clashes took place between security forces and Taliban militants in various areas of Dawlabad district on Tuesday.
The statement further added that 11 Taliban militants including their two commanders identified as Omari and Mawlavi Naeem were killed during the clashes and 21 others were wounded.
According to 209th Shaheen Corps, some senior Taliban leaders including Mawlavi Najeeb alias Nasir the Red Unit commander of the group for Dawlatabad, Mawlavi Ehsanullah alias Toofan, and Mawlavi Tahir one of the prominent Taliban leaders in Qoshtapa district are among those wounded.
Mawlavi Tahir and his fighters had travelled to Dawlatabad district to support the militants who had attacked the security outposts in the district, the 209th Shaheen Corps added.
The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the clashes so far.
