A senior Taliban leader was found wounded in a police vehicle as he was being shifted to Kabul apparently for treatment purposes.
The Taliban leader identified as Qari Zahir was the spy chief of the Taliban group and was found from the police vehicle in a check post in Khenjan district of Baghlan.
A security official speaking on the condition of anonymity said Qari Zahir was arrested by the operatives of the Afghan intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS).
The official further added that two policemen were also arrested in connection to the evacuation of the senior Taliban leader using the police vehicle.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
This comes as the Afghan security forces have intensified raids against the Taliban group Dand-e-Ghori area of Baghlan province during the recent weeks.
The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said Saturday at least 21 Taliban insurgents were killed and 20 others were wounded during the operations conducted in in Surkh Kotal area of Dand-e-Ghori district.
The security situation in Baghlan province has been sharply deteriorating during the past few months as a result of the Taliban-led insurgency.
The Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) managed to end siege of at least three military bases in this province recently which resulted into the rescue of over 100 trapped security personnel.
The security situation in Baghlan started to deteriorate earlier this year following the launch of a military operation in Dand-e-Ghor and Dand-e-Shahabuddin areas near the provincial capital.
