Local officials reported that the Tulak district of Ghor Provinces seized by the Taliban on Friday night and at least 50 security officers were killed and wounded in the assault.

Fatima Kohistani, a parliamentarian from Ghor province, confirmed to Khaama Press that Taliban militants took control of the district building and police bases last night.

“Only one checkpoint in Tulak district is under control of security forces with less military equipment available which could fall in another hour,” said Fatima Kohistani.

Fatima also added that fighting between government forces and militants continues and yet no other forces have come for rescue.

Meanwhile, an anonymous source reported to Khaama Press that the Governor of Tulak along with a number of officials had surrendered to the Taliban.

Security forces have not yet commented on the matter.

However, Taliban militants said that they have seized an army base and three checkpoints of Tulak District.

Taliban has also claimed that 20 security forces were killed in the assault.
