The Taliban militants group in Afghanistan released 33 teachers and students of southern Kandahar province on Sunday.
According to local government officials in Kandahar province, the university teachers and students were handed over to local tribal elders on Sunday evening.
Provincial governor spokesman, Dawa Khan Meenapal also confirmed that a delegation of Ulemas and local tribal elders of Kandahar and Ghazni provinces had received the released university students and lecturers.
A spokesman for the Taliban group, Zabiullah Mujahid, said all 33 university students and lecturers were released after they completed their investigation from the detained individuals.
The Kandahar university lecturers and students were abducted by Taliban militants from Qarabagh district of eastern Ghazni province on 10th of June.
The lecturers and students were on their way from southern Kandahar to capital Kabul when Taliban militants attacked their vehicle and kidnapped them.
