The Special Forces of the Afghan Intelligence stormed a compound of a commander of the Red Unit of Taliban in southern Helmand province leaving at least four militants dead.

The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), in a statement said the raid was conducted on compound of Ataullah, one of the commanders of the Red Unit of Taliban in Marjah district.

The statement further added that four members of the Taliban group were killed in the raid and six weapons, two hand grenades, a radio communication set, three vehicles, and some propaganda papers were confiscated.

The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the operation so far.

Helmand is among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan. Taliban militants are active in some of the restive districts of the province where they often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.
