62 including Taliban named Dangam district governor killed

The defense ministry of Afghanistan says to have killed 62 insurgents in Kunar’s Dangam district including Ahmad Khan who was named by the Taliban as the district governor for Dangam in eastern Kunar province.

In the meantime Shojaulmulk Jalala, acting governor of Kunar province says they have cleared some strategic points of the way leading to the area where civilians are surrounded by the insurgents, adding that, the security forces will soon reach to help the people caught in between.

He said 6 soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and 3 civilian who were defending themselves from Taliban have embraced martyrdom, adding that 20 soldiers also suffered injuries in the exchange of fire with Taliban.

Abdul Habib Sayedkhil, police chief of the province says several Taliban insurgents were also killed whose bodies were taken across the border (Pakistan) but he did not have a specific number of them.

Fighting in Kunar’s Dangam district erupted seven days ago after the civilians started an armed uprising against the Taliban.
