The Kankor entrance exam for 2022 (1401) is set to start on the 5th of October (Mezan 13). Soon, the biometric process for high school graduates across Afghanistan will begin, according to the Taliban Ministry of Higher Education.

The Taliban Higher Education Ministry’s spokesman, Ahmad Taqi, announced on Thursday, 8 September, that the Kankor exam this year would take place from 5th – 7th October (13th-15th Mezan), while the high school graduates’ biometric process will soon begin.

The number of high school graduates who will take the 1401 Kankor entrance exam this year remains unknown. No information regarding girls’ participation in this entrance exam has been provided by the Taliban government’s Ministry of Higher Education.

With the Taliban assuming control of Afghanistan, schools for girls above the sixth grade were closed across the country, and no female student graduated from Afghanistan’s schools in the last year.

The Taliban government’s Ministry of Higher Education spokesman has stated that the Kankor entrance exam will be more “transparent” than in the past and that there will be no “restrictions” for anyone.

This is even though, because of the outbreak of the coronavirus last year, the Kankor exam in Afghanistan was pushed to August, although it had previously been held at the end of the winter season.

Kankor is an entrance exam for universities in Afghanistan. Every year, hundreds of thousands of high school graduates take this exam to continue their studies at public, governmental, or private universities.
