Hezb-e-Islami commander killed in WardakAccording to local authorities in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan, a prominent Hezb-e-Islami — Islamic Party of Afghanistan commander was killed in this province.

Provincial governor media office following a statement announced that the Hezb-e-Islami party commander was killed following a roadside improvised explosive device blast.

The source further added, the incident took place on Friday in Nerkh district, killing commander Khanji along with his other companions.

According to reports the IED was planted by Taliban militants.

In the meantime Wardak provincial government following the statement added that Hezb-e-Islami militants started clashes with the Taliban militants in Nerkh district following the incident.

It is yet not clear if the IED was placed by the Taliban militants to kill Hezb-e-Islami commander and there are no reports regarding the casualties as a result of the clashes between the two sides.

Taliban militants frequently use improvised explosive device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition security forces.

Taliban and Hezb-e-Islami party yet to comment regarding the incident.
