The Afghan forces repelled a Taliban attack in central Logar province of Afghanistan, inflicting heavy casualties on assailant militants.

The provincial government in a statement said the Taliban militants planned to launch attacks on several areas including Juma Kala located in the outskirts of the provincial capital of Logar and Baraki Barak district.

The statement further added that the Afghan forces, supported by air forces, repelled the attack, killing at least 11 militants and wounding 1 more.

The security forces also confiscated a PKM machine gun and an Ak-47 assault rifle during the operation, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the security forces clashed with the Taliban militants Baraki Barak district and killed 7 militants including their commander Fareed alias Ahrar.

The Taliban group has not commented regarding the incidents so far.
