At least eleven Taliban insurgents their local commanders and leaders were killed or wounded during the ongoing operations in northeastern Takhar province of Afghanistan.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said the militants were killed during the ongoing Pamir-18 operations in Darqad district.

At least six insurgents including one of their local commanders identified as Mawlavi Mir Wali were killed and five others were wounded.

According to Shaheen Corps, two local Taliban leaders identified as Qari Sefat and Ikram were among those wounded.

The operations were conducted in the vicinities of Basir Khel and Omar Khel areas, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military.

The anti-government armed militants including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

Takhar is among the relatively volatile provinces in northeastern parts of the country where insurgency related activities and clashes between the Afghan forces and the insurgents are often reported.

This comes as counter-terrorism operations are underway in several restive provinces in northern parts of the country including Kunduz, Faryab, Jawzjan, and Baghlan as anti-government armed elements are attempting to expand their insurgency activities.
