According to local authorities in north-eastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, Taliban militants killed district chief for Sheghnan and a commander of the Afghan local security forces in this province.

Provincial governor spokesman Marouf Rasukh confirming the report said the incident took place on Tuesday around 1:30 pm local time after Sheghnan district along with commander of border protection forces were ambushed by Taliban militants on Sheghnan and Baharak highway.

Mr. Rasukh further added Saifullah Sadiqi district chief for Sheghnan along Mohammad Kazem commander of the border protection forces were killed with two other security forces.

In the meantime a spokesman for the Taliban group Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility behind the attack and said Sheghnan district chief was killed along with four others following the attack and three others were injured.
