According to local authorities in eastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan, the dead bodies of eight civilians who were abducted by Taliban militants have been found in Moqor district.
Deputy provincial governor, Mohammad Ali Ahmadi confirming the report said, Taliban militants abducted the eight individuals during the Eid holidays.
Mr. Ahmadi further added that the Taliban militants in Afghan army uniform stopped the bus and took eight individuals with them to an unknown location, and their dead bodies were found on Tuesday in Moqoro district, on Kabul-Kandahar highway.
He said majority of the victims were civilians, and only one of the deceased individuals was a member of the national directorate of security (NDS) of Laghman province.
According to Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, Taliban militants were creating check posts between Kabul and Zabul highways in order to check the buses and identify the government employees.
Kabul-Kandahar highway is one of the volatile regions, where militants are openly operating and carry out insurgency activities. Recently, Taliban militants ambushed the vehicle of female lawmaker, Roh Gul Khairzad on the same route.
Roh Gul Khairzad was critically injured following the attack along with her husband, and her daughter together with one of her bodyguards were killed.
