Taliban Frees 35 Prisoners to Honor Eid

Local officials of the southeastern Helmand province have exempted dozens of prisoners and released them as the Muslims’ biggest festival-Eid-ul-Fitr arrives, Bakhtar News Agency reported.

The 35 prisoners who were accused of various crimes were taken out of jail on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

Not only the Taliban but every Afghan government would release prisoners to honor Eid which is typically a period of exemption.

Bakhtar News Agency has quoted the provincial judge Mawlawi Sidiqullah Mudaser saying the jailers were freed from two prisons in the districts of Babaji and Musa Qala.

One of the two biggest Muslim religious festivals-Eid-ul-Fitr- that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan is purportedly supposed to start in May the first of this year.
