According to local security officials in north-eastern Badakhshan province, Taliban militants freed at least 11 border protection police forces who were abducted few days earlier.
Provincial security chief for Badakhshan province Gen. Sakhidad said, the abducted border protection police service members were freed following efforts by tribal elders and Afghan security force officials.
Gen. Sakhidad further added, Taliban militants had abducted the 11 police service members following an ambush at Wardaj district of north-eastern Badakhshan province.
According Gen. Mir Abdul Wahid commander of 7th border protection forces battalion, at least 2 Afghan border protection police forces were killed and one of the were injured following the attack by Taliban militants.
Taliban militants claimed they had burnt an outpost of the Afghan border protection police forces and had taken an Afghan police vehicle along with some weapons with them.
