The security force killed 23 Taliban militants including a key Taliban commander who was in charge of the high-tech weapons in southern Uruzgan province.

The Special Operations Corps in a statement said the Afghan Special Forces conducted an opertaion with the support of the Afghan Air Force in the vicinity of Tarinkot city, the provincial capital of Uruzgan.

The statement further added that the security forces killed 23 Taliban militants including Mullah Samsoor, a key commander of the group who was in charge of waging insurgency using high-tech weapons.

Mullah Samsoor was leading a unit of Taliban militants who were carrying out attacks using high-tech weapons including rifles equipped with thermal night vision scopes, the statement added.

The Taliban group has not commented regarding the operation and the casualties inflicted on the group so far.
