NATO helicopterA helicopter belonging to the NATO-led coalition security forces conducted a precautionary landing in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan on Friday afternoon.

The Taliban militants group in Afghanistan claimed that the helicopter belonged to the US forces in Afghanistan and was shot down by Taliban fighters in Shahwali Kot district of Kandahar province.

Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, said the helicopter caught fire and crashed after it came under the Taliban fighters fire on Friday afternoon.

In the meantime, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed that a NATO helicopter made a precautionary landing in southern Afghanistan.

ISAF following a statement, said, “We can confirm that an International Security Assistance Force aircraft conducted a precautionary landing in southern Afghanistan today.”

ISAF confirmed there were no ISAF casualties and there were no reports of insurgent activity in the area. The aircraft has been recovered.
