Taliban bomber killed in HeratA Taliban bomber blew up himself with own explosives while he was trying to plant an improvised explosive device (IED) in Herat province.

According to local police officials, the incident took place earlier today in Shindand district.

District police chief Abdul Qayum Noorzai said the bomber was looking to plant a remote controlled improvised explosive device (IED) on a roadside to target the convoy of the police forces.

Noorzai further added that the explosives went off while he was trying to plant them, leaving the bomber dead.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.

Taliban militants frequently use improvised explosive device (EID) as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition security forces.

IEDs are also a major contributor to civilian casualties in Afghanistan as the civilians are mostly targeted in roadsede bombings.
