Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense reported that dozens of Taliban fighters were killed in Ghazni and Laghman provinces.

MoD in a released statement said that Afghan security forces backed by air support clashed with the Taliban militants in Muqur, Gilan districts of Ghazni province, and in Raheen and Gomba areas of Alishsheng district in Laghman province.

The bulletin noted 20 Taliban fighters were killed in Ghazni and 12 others were killed in Laghman province.

Six Taliban fighters were also reported injured in Ghazni province, and their weapons and ammunition were destroyed by the ANDSF.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid tweeted that an Afghan security forces convoy was hit by IED in the Tasang area of Deh Yak district in Ghazni province.

The Taliban ambushed the convoy on Saturday in which three APCs were destroyed, 3 security force members killed and another was injured.

This comes as MoD tweeted that 90 Taliban fighters were killed and 17 others were wounded in Laghman, Nangarhar, Wardak, Badghis, Helmand, and Kandahar province of Afghanistan during the past 24 hours.

According to the statement, the Taliban suffered casualties due to reciprocal operations conducted by the Afghan national defense and security forces.

MoD further wrote that ANDSF discovered 37 IEDs, and a large number of weapons and ammunition belonging to the Taliban were also destroyed.

A Taliban car bombing incident was thwarted by Afghan special forces in Kandahar province.

Taliban planned to carry out a car bombing attack in Panjwai district of Kandahar province on Saturday night.

The Afghan commandos were able to stop the attack in time before the Taliban suicide bomber could detonate the explosive-laden vehicle.
