Taliban attack leaves 4 Afghan police dead in Helmand

Afghanistan policeAt least five members of the Afghan forces were killed following an attack by Taliban militants in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan.

According to local authorities in Helmand province, at least two Taliban militants were also killed during the clashes which took place later Thursday night in Musa Qala district.

Fawad Askari, spokesman for the provincial security department confirming the report said at least four police officers were killed and another police officer was injured after Taliban militants attacked a security check post in Musa Qala late Thursday night.

Mr. Askari further added that the health condition of the injured police officer is critical.

He also confirmed that two Taliban militants were killed during the clashes and their dead bodies were left in the area.

Taliban group has not commented regarding the incident so far.

This comes as four Afghan police officers were killed or injured following an explosion near a security check post in Marjah district late Wednesday night.
