At least eight Afghan policemen were killed in a Taliban offensive on Monday night in Badakhshan Province.
Abdullah Naji Nazar, a member of the Badakhshan Provincial Council told the media that the policemen were killed when the Taliban attacked a security outpost in the region.
Taliban has reportedly attacked and burned the police base, Nazari said.
According to Nazari Taliban seized all the weapons belonging to ANP.
Badakhshan police also confirmed the Taliban attack, but did not further provide details about the casualties.
So far, the Taliban did not comment on the incident.
Taliban has not officially announced their spring operations but Experts have linked such attacks to unannounced lunch of the Taliban spring offensives, just like in the past.
Previously, in another incident, two policemen were killed and six others were injured in a Taliban attack in Baghlan province, local officials told the media.
During the battle an armored police Humvee was also wrecked and another was taken by the Taliban militants.
This comes despite peace efforts underway between Taliban and government forces.
