Taliban’s provincial officials in the eastern Nangarhar province have asked Raksha (Taxi) drivers not to transport other gunmen other than the Taliban affiliates.

Nangarhar’s provincial office in a statement asked the drivers around the province to give them hand in ensuring the security of the province and acknowledged them to prevent transporting other gunmen.

The statement has also asked the people of Nangarhar province to cooperate with them and inform them after they see suspected gunmen in Raksha taxis.

Though the statement did not name any specific group of militants, they apparently aim at the ISIS-K fighters who are reportedly more active in the eastern provinces of Afghanistan than other parts of the country.

It comes as the number of targeted assassinations has risen recently that has worried the local residents.

Residents of Nangarhar province say that they often see people hanged from trees or their heads cut early in the morning but have no clue about the victims nor the perpetrators.
