Taliban and Afghan forces suffer heavy casualties in Badghis

Afghan-National-Army-soldierTaliban militants and Afghan national security forces suffered heavy casualties during heavy clashes in western Badghis province of Afghanistan, local officials said.

The officials further added that nearly 100 Taliban militants were killed or injured during the clashes which took place in Bala Morghab district during the past three days.

A local security official in Badghis province confirming the report said nearly 20 Afghan national security forces were also killed during the clashes.

The official speaking on the condition of anonymity said clashes between Afghan and Taliban militants started after a group of militnats ambushed Afghan security forces in Bala Morghab district.

The official also added that nearly 57 Taliban militants were killed and around 48 others were injured during the clashes.

Taliban leaders including Mullah Bismillah, Mullah Zakir, Mawlavi Abdul Zahir, mullah Abdul Rauf and Mullah Jalil were also among those killed during the clashes, the official said.

Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the reports.
