Local officials in northern Takhar province say Raz Mohammad Durandish, the province’s security chief, has been killed in a clash with the Taliban.

Khalil Asir, a spokesman for the Takhar police, said the incident took place in the Baharak district of Takhar province during a clash between security forces and the Taliban.

He said that besides Durandish, several of his bodyguards were also killed during the skirmish.

He added that the area was currently under the control of security forces.

According to reports, Taliban militants also suffered heavy casualties during the battle.

This comes as, governor of Zazai Maidan District of Khost province, was killed in a targeted ambush on Monday afternoon.

According to local officials, the district governor was ambushed while traveling to the capital by Unknown gunmen in Logar’s Altamur area.
