Eight people including six women of Asian descents were shot and killed in a string of attacks on Atlanta-area day spas in southern Georgia on Tuesday.
According to Reuters police have not yet determined the motive behind the attack but law and order patrols have been established in Asian communities as precautions for preventing further attacks.
The shooting spree began at around 5 p.m local time when four people were killed and another was wounded at a Young’s Asian Massage in Cherokee County.
Just an hour after the incident police in the area responded to a robber in progress call shortly before 6 pm, when the cops arrived at the location at the Gold Spa beauty salon, they found three women shot to death.
The 8th victim was found when police officers to a separate aroma therapy spa where a woman was found dead due to a gunshot wound.
Reports indicate that a suspect named “Robert Aaron long”, 21 of Woodstock is taken into custody at about 8:30 pm after a police chase, police were very confident of the attacks due to video evidence at all of the three crime scenes.
Investigations are ongoing to find out the motive behind the attack and confirm the relations of shootings in Atlanta and Cherokee County.
All of the three crime scenes are cordoned and police have launched thorough investigations into the rampage incident, and it is not clear whether the victims were racially targeted or the motive is different.
