Super WiFi service launched for the first time in Afghanistan

super wifi afghanistanThe Super WiFi and HD Voice services was launched for the first time in Afghanistan by a private telecommunication company.

The launch of Supe WiFi and HD Voice services is yet another step in modernizing the telecommunication sector of the country which saw a considerable growth during the past years.

The Afghan Wireless Telecommunication Company launched the services to enable the mobile users have access in fast internet connection and clear voice services.

The services was launched during an event attended by Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Razaq Wahidi along with members of the parliament and other high level government officials.

The Chief Executive Officer of Afghan Wireless Telecommunication Company Amin Ramin said the Super WiFi service will enable the subscribers of the company to have access to fast internet in all parts of Kabul city.

Telecommunications Minister Abdul Razaq Wahidi said Super WiFi or HD Voice Service is a new technology which uses low frequency with a different power system.

He praised the test launch of the new technology in Kabul and said the technology is currently used in developed countries across the globe and the launch of the technology in Afghanistan is yet another achievement in telecom sector of the country.

There have been a significant advancement in access to internet since 2002 despite the rates remains high, with the launch of modern technologies such third generation (3G) mobile internet further facilitating the youths to have better access to internet and social media.

The launch of fast internet enables youth generation of the country including civil and rights activists and politicians who see the potential for social media to become a major forum for public engagement.

Facebook and Twitter are the two most popular social media networks in Afghanistan where majority of the youths have subscribed. The two social media networks were also widely used by presidential candidates and their supporters for electoral campaign.

Key government officials including the President and government institutions are now using Facebook and Twitter to reach to the young population of the country.
