Suicide car bomber target NATO base in Paktiya province

A heavy explosion rocked eastern Paktiya province of Afghanistan early Wednesday morning.

The incident took place after a suicide bomber detonated explosives packed inside a car near coalition forces military base.

Provincial governor spokesman Rohullah Samoon confirming the report said the incident took place aftre a suicide bomber detonated explosives packed inside a vehicle near coalition forces military base in this province.

Mr. Samoon further added at least 10 Afghan national army service members were injured following the blast however the facility was not damaged following teh blast.

The explosion took place around 7:30 am local time in Zarmak district.

In the meantime a spokesman for the Taliban group Zabiullah Mujahid said several NATO troops were killed or injured following the attack.

He said a number of the Taliban militants entered the military compound after the suicide blast incurring heavy casualties to Afghan and NATO troops.
