us-convoy-afghanistanA heavy explosion rocked northern Parwan province of Afghanistan on Friday, targeting a convoy of the coalition security forces.

According to local government officials, the incident took place in Bagram district after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the convoy of the US troops.

Bagram district security chief, Hashmat Muslim confirming the report said the incident took place near the US-run Bagram air base and the target of the bomber was convoy of the US forces.

Mr. Muslim further added that the suicide bomber rammed a motorcycle packed with explosives in to the convoy of the US forces.

He said only the suicide bomber was killed following the explosion and US forces did not suffer any casualties.

Hezb-e-Islami party of Afghanistan claimed responsibility behind the attack and said that heavy casualties were incurred to US troops. However, local officials deny the claims by Hezb-e-Islami.

District security chief, Hashmat Muslim said, preliminary investigations reveal that the suicide attack was carried out by a resident of northern Takhar province. He was recognized as Aminullah.
