The incident took place minutes later after a huge number of football fans had gathered in the area to welcome the national football team.
Kabul police chief confirmed that only the suicide bomber was killed in the attack and added that the bomber was likely looking to carry out the attack among the gathering of football fans.
No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
However, the Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant during the recent weeks amid efforts to bring the group’s leadership to peace negotiations.
At least two civilians were killed and eighteen others were wounded after a suicide bomber detonated a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) targeting a popular restaurant in the 4th police district of the city late on Friday evening.
